Ellie is a registered dietitian specializing in nutrition and health communications. She's the host of the Food Network's Healthy Appetite and author of the popular Small Changes, Big Results and The Food You Crave: Luscious Recipes for a Healthy Life, which peaked at number two on the New York Times bestseller list. In addition to being named to Amazon’s Customer Bestseller List for 2008, The Food You Crave recently won an award from the International Association of Culinary Professionals and was nominated for a James Beard Foundation Award.

Ellie's extensive work in the media has earned her a loyal following and national recognition as a trusted health professional. This March, Ellie joined a notable list of celebrities to take part in the illustrious "Got Milk?" Campaign; she's the first dietitian to wear the iconic milk mustache.

Ellie also shares her secrets for staying on track (and enjoying yourself!) when you're in the most challenging situations: at the office, in a restaurant, or on vacation. Healthy Appetite teaches you easy ways to eat better, live healthier, have more energy, and feel great! Ellie was an adjunct professor in the New York University Department of Nutrition, Food Studies and Public Health. Ellie also held the position of director of nutritional services at the prestigious La Palestra Center for Preventative Medicine, where she worked with a team of physicians, psychologists, and fitness specialists to create a multifaceted obesity treatment program.

In her years in private practice she counseled a wide variety of clients, from homemakers and CEOs to notable celebrities and models. Ellie was also a Wilhelmina model herself for more than ten years. She received her bachelor's degree, with honors and distinction, in clinical nutrition from Cornell University and her master's in nutrition education from Columbia University.
